How does SteamCleaner Pro work?

Can it remove dirt without chemicals?

Yes. Steam effectively dissolves grease, limescale, dirt, and microorganisms – without using cleaning agents. This is due to the high temperature and pressure, which break down organic residues and loosen dirt from surfaces.

What is the difference between SteamCleaner and SteamCleaner Pro?

SteamCleaner Pro is the upgraded model with a larger water tank (2,200 ml vs. 1,250 ml), higher power (2,600 W), two steam modes (DRY and WET), a temperature display, and a complete accessory set including a floor mop, glass scraper, telescopic rods, and copper brushes.

Additionally, the Pro model has wheels and a longer hose and cord, as well as a trigger function on the handle, making it significantly more user-friendly.

The Pro model can also be refilled while running.

Can it be used on carpets?

Yes, the Rennoa™ SteamCleaner Pro can be used on carpets. The steam kills dust mites and their eggs, and is gentler than chemical cleaning, which can leave residues in the carpet. Remember to vacuum afterwards to completely remove dead dust mites, eggs, and dirt.

How long should I steam an area to kill dust mites?

Dust mites die already at about 55–60 °C. Rennoa SteamCleaner Pro emits steam at over 140 °C, which quickly kills them. Keep the nozzle close to the surface and move it slowly – about 5–10 seconds per area of approximately 10×10 cm is enough for the heat to penetrate the fabric. Make sure to cover the entire surface systematically and let the material dry afterwards.

Kills the bacteria?

Yes. Most bacteria die at temperatures above 60 °C, but to achieve a disinfecting effect, steam typically needs to be over 80–100 °C. Rennoa™ SteamCleaner Pro produces steam at about 140 °C, which is effective against many common bacteria.

Does it remove mold?

The Rennoa™ SteamCleaner Pro can effectively help remove surface mold on hard, dense surfaces such as tiles, grout, glass, metal, and enamel.

The steam is heated to about 140 °C, which is sufficient to kill mold spores on the surface. Combined with the pressure, the steam also loosens the mold's organic residues, making them easier to wipe away.

Note, however:

Steam does not remove mold deep inside materials (e.g., drywall or wood), where the mold has grown into the structure.
For deeper or persistent problems, you should combine with mold removers or professional treatment.
Never use the steam cleaner on untreated or absorbent materials, where moisture can penetrate and worsen the problem.

How long does it take to heat up?

SteamCleaner Pro is ready to use within about 1 minute. The display continuously shows the temperature – when it reaches 90°C, the machine is ready.

What are DRY and WET modes?

DRY (dry steam) leaves very little water and is ideal for surfaces that must not get soaked – for example, upholstered furniture, textiles, and areas near electronics. WET (wet steam) leaves more water and is suitable for surfaces that will be rinsed or wiped afterward, such as grill grates and heavily soiled porcelain.

It sprays a little water at the start – is that normal?

Yes, that is completely normal. For the first 2–5 seconds, it may spray a little water while it heats up and builds pressure. This is just residual water being pushed out of the system.

How do I refill water?

Remove the tank lid at the top of the machine. Fill with about 2,200 ml of water. We recommend distilled water to minimize limescale buildup and extend the machine's lifespan – but tap water can be used. Close the lid tightly again.

Can I add water while the machine is running?

Yes. SteamCleaner Pro can be refilled during use without cooling down or waiting. Just remove the tank cap and fill up to about 2,200 ml.

Which surfaces and places can I use it on?

SteamCleaner Pro can be used on an incredible number of surfaces – here are some of the most obvious:

Kitchen: Remove grease from ovens, range hoods, refrigerators, sinks, grills, and countertops. Clean effectively around food residues and hard-to-reach corners.

Floors, tiles, and ceramics: Restore the shine to ceramic surfaces and remove stains and dirt between grout lines – quickly and without wear.

Car: Steam clean seats, door edges, mats, and the dashboard – effectively and without chemicals.

Living room: Refresh sofas, armchairs, and leather furniture. Removes stains and bad odors.

Bedroom: Clean mattresses and upholstered furniture – reduce dust mites and allergens with steam treatment.

Bathroom: Remove limescale, soap scum, and bacteria in toilets, showers, and sinks. Especially effective against stains and stubborn dirt.

Other things it can be used for:

Where should I not use it?

You should not use the steam cleaner on items and surfaces that cannot withstand steam. This includes (but is not limited to):

Unsealed wooden floors
Laminate floors
Soft plastic
Painted and lacquered surfaces with damage
Plaster, cork, and raw wood
Delicate fabrics such as velour and acrylic
Wallpaper and old materials

Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first – especially on fabrics and surfaces you are unsure about. The user is responsible for ensuring that materials can withstand steam. Rennoa ApS disclaims liability for damage caused by improper use.

How do I maintain my SteamCleaner Pro?

Always empty the water tank after use. Point the gun towards the sink and hold the trigger until no more steam comes out – this equalizes the pressure. Use distilled water if you live in an area with hard water. Clean the microfiber cap in warm water or in the machine after use. Store the machine dry and never with water in the tank.

When and how do I descale the machine?

Descale when the steam becomes weak or irregular. Mix water and vinegar (or citric acid) in a 3:1 ratio, pour it into the tank, turn the machine on to WET MODE, and hold the trigger over the sink until the tank is empty.

Important: never use descaling agents, soap, or chemicals in the tank – only clean water for daily use and the water/vinegar solution for descaling.

How do I wash the microfiber cloth and cover?

Both can be machine washed. Wash separately to avoid lint. Use liquid detergent – avoid fabric softener and bleach. Air dry or tumble dry on low heat.
